Bangalore Diary! Eating, drinking and getting stuck in traffic!

So, I was in Bangalore this past week. This was my first visit to the silicon valley of India…or is that Hyderabad! Anyone?
Landed safely, albeit an hour late- thanks to the delayed take off- apparently Bangalore weather had come knocking at Delhi’s door!

Descending from the clouds, approaching the swish Kempegowda Interntional airport, you notice the change in topography- coconut trees, lush greenery and red clayey soil.
Cut to what one should do when in Bangalore! Venue- Arbor Brewery!
That’s a perfectly balanced Martini
Here’s the thing- we reach there on a weekend and are given a waiting number that’s worse than a Meena bazaar sale- 49th! No worries, post a surprisingly short wait of 10 minutes- we are ushered into a table for two, right next to the DJ’s console.(Originally, loud music was a no-no at a pub) No worries, as we place a request for an oldish Knopfler classic- that gets honoured!
Go for: Huge delicious helps of the grub
             Passable Stout!
‘Celfie’- Self portraiture in a CAB!
My Uber guy tells me that there are 750 taxis being added to this erstwhile ‘retirement haven’ everyday! Not withstanding the dubious statistics- I’ll say one thing , traffic is a big dampner- what with narrow roads and unplanned hyper urbanisation.
Top tip: Don’t drive, car pool or better still Uber/Ola it!
Food!
I tried the coastal affair at Kanua at Sarjapur. It’s a dimly lit, chic-rustic interiors-exteriors, as its headquarters on the third floor- yes ‘step’ it you guys! Known for its Konkani, Mangalorean cuisine- it averages up to 1400 bucks for two. The Neer Dosa with the Ghee roast is to die for! Wash it down with sips of coconut water!
Where: 6/2, Near Wipro Headquaters, Kaikondrahalli, Sarjapur Road, Bangalore
What: The Veg stew could do with more colour and spices!

I told you about the rustic interiors- A sample!

More Food!

Ok for this recco, I have LBBBangalore peeps to thank! Presenting the Pan-Asian( in this case: Malaysian Thai and Singaporean!) fare at Nasi and Mee Asian Canteen, at 974, 80 Feet Road, 4th Block, Koramangala, Koramangala 4th Block.
Cool your heels on the slim benches outside the  eatery. With basic, functional decor, the service is quick and the food, fresh and finger-lickin’ good!(Is this phrase copyrighted??)
Do the Shumai too!
Delicate darlings!
Shopping!

Where: Mysore Saree Udyog
Prasiddhi Silks
