All you Wanted to Know about Beauty Treatments

I am all for a healthy life, against ageism and of course, a believer in beauty is skin deep- but do love to have a spotless, healthy skin! There, all disclaimers intact, let’s broach the topic of beauty treatments. I  was recently at the ISAAC International Skin and Anti Ageing Centre, one amongst the 5 spread across Delhi, where cosmetic and clinical dermatology under trained dermatologists is finding new takers as I type.
Beauty chat with the Dr Geetika
Curious about what were the most popular treatments  at the centre- I ask. The answer-Laser hair reduction and removal- by men and women, no surprises there with summers on us! (Have you tried it? share your experience..)
Interesting also to note that Botox fillers along with the many rejuvenating deep penetrating facials, came a close second. Cellulite reduction using Cooltech technology with the state-of-the-art machines procured from the UK, especially suitable for Asian skin types, also has many lining up for it at the centre.
Good to Know
A healthy diet and an active lifestyle is recommended along with non-invasive treatments. Here’s what the other treatments done at the centre look like. A chat with Dr. Geetika Mittal Gupta, revealed how ageing starts the moment one is born and some quick tips for a working lady to take care of her skin! Up on my insta now.
Skin ageing shown rather graphically…

Here’s what I learnt of the mind boggling array of beauty treatments offered at the centre:

Cooltech
Cooltech freezes the fat cell, causing it to die permanently. It induces the breaking down of cells naturally. Apoptosis or natural cell death occurs when temperature of fat cells under the skin is reduced so much so that they freeze.
Exilis
Exilis Body Contouring, treatment uses targeted heat to treat skin and fat. Exilis is a monopolar radio-frequency medical device which delivers high energy in a  controlled fashion to melt fat, repair and stimulate the production of natural collagen.

X-Wave – Cellulite Reduction
Acoustic waves are extremely strong non-focused sound pulses that induce vibration within the body. The acoustic waves used in X-Wave break down the adhesive fibrous bands in the skin, which lead to the puckering and dimpling of cellulite.
Lymphastim -Detoxification and Cellulite Reduction
Computerised Air Pressure Massage delivers a light rhythmic pumping movement via a specially designed body suit for reduction of water retention.
Botox
Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscles can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften. Wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity  do  not respond to Botox.
Intragen
Intragen is a radiofrequency device used for skin tightening and facial contouring. This non- ablative technology where radiofrequency waves cause thermal stimulation of the dermis is claimed to result in dermal remodeling and new collagen and elastin synthesis.
Platelet rich plasma
PRP is a natural product created from the  body. A small amount of blood is drawn  and placed in a sterile tube that is spun down in a centrifuge to separate the different components of the blood. Red and white blood cells are divided from the platelets and the plasma (the clear fluid). This plasma now contains a higher than normal number of platelets and is called platelet rich plasma, or PRP. Due to  its advantage of stimulating both superficial and deep dermis promising results  in following indications – Alopecia, Skin rejuvenation ,  skin tightening, Acne scars , wrinkles.

Snippets of our conversation-

Carbon Light Facial

Carbon Light face therapy is a mix of advance laser technology and the power of activated carbon.
Ultherapy (See the beauty of Sound) – Ultherapy® is the ONLY FDA-cleared, non-invasive procedure that lifts and tightens the neck, chin and brow, and improves lines and wrinkles on the chest. Ultherapy ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin —without surgery or downtime.
Painless Laser Hair Reduction-Soprano Ice Platinum works on multiple laser wavelengths and technology that targets the widest range of hair types and color.

And, if any of this is not for you, a good ol’, new age facial it is! I went in for a hydra facial- see my experience on Insta… Now!
Spot the difference? Post my Hyrdra Facial
The most important aspect of such treatments. from what I could gather is to consult a doctor and make a conscious, well informed  decision, whatever it may be.
To each her/his own- be it a natural process or a clinically consulted one- beauty remains in the eye of the beholder. Agree?

PS: The Insider’s experiential was hosted by the ISAAC International Skin and Anti ageing Centre
Please consult a doctor before going in for any of these treatments.
